Websites can be either Utopian or Dystopian. Which one is yours? Digital Discovery — Ask Your Marketing & Strategy Q&A

“Why should I bother with a CMS?” Will you still have a website in 3 years? Will you still even need one? What your site is probably missing; How you need to evolve your website for the future.

In today’s Facebook Live Digital Discovery — Ask Your Marketing & Strategy Q&A — I’m talking through these 3 core issues affecting your business and your website:

1. Open source vs proprietary platforms — CMS — Wix, AI, — what’s best and what is worst?

2. What your site is probably missing — “gift”

3. How you need to evolve your website — move towards education for service based business, move to more of a sales process

Here’s the detail of the Questions Answered

Look at your long-term strategy, the value you want to deliver now and into the future. If you want to be able to have some option available to your business, without being lockedin for life, then look at open source, where you can get skilled people from around the world to help you along your journey.

2. What your site is probably missing — do you have a “contact us” form? Great — what’s next? “gift” or sales process

67% of your audience online won’t fill out a “Contact Us” form, so why do you have one? Well, that’s not the problem, as there will be about 3% of your audience that will use it. So what else can you do to get the 67%? Create some opportunities to provide your value over time, through Gifts, or special events, or anything else that will progress your audience through their buying cycle.

3. How you need to evolve your website — move towards education for service based business, move to more of a sales process. What’s going to happen to websites…

Don’t get caught up in developing your “Business 10.0” — you need to start at “Business 1.0”, first, to save you the frustration and excessive resources needed to get you there. Think about Facebook at the beginning in 2006 and Facebook now — see the difference? Yes, they took the time to build over time. You should too. You need to be able to build and test, and learn what your audience really is doing, testing your assumptions, and then evolve some more, to give them the best value possible.
